Saweetie‘s side ponytail is seriously sparkling, thanks to a pile of glimmering, shimmering tinsel extensions.

The rapper shared a video of herself and two friends dancing to the song “Rock Your Hips,” on which Saweetie has a guest verse. She’s wearing her dark hair in a super high, thick ponytail fastened at one side of her head, with colorful metallic tinsel concentrated mostly at the ends and making up the majority of the lower half of the ponytail, though there are a few slim pieces peeking out from the top of the ponytail too. The tinsel is a pretty blend of color-changing pink and gold tones, and Saweetie paired the pony with cat eye liner, pink lipstick, and a white stiletto manicure. As she dances, the tinsel swishes and sparkles in the coolest way.

This isn’t the first time Saweetie has dabbled in the tinsel world. In fall 2023, she experimented with the “fairy hair” trend of adding a few strategic pieces of tinsel incorporated into your hairstyle to make it shimmer, and Saweetie wore a skinny green piece of tinsel right in the front of her face, more like a tendril than a highlight.

Tinsel has been popular with celebs for a few years, with stars like Katy Perry and Kacey Musgraves giving it a spin to add extra sparkle to their onstage looks. (Even Beyoncé has worn it!) It can be applied in a few different ways, including tied to a single strand or via a micro bead extension, hairstylist Ashley Armour previously told Allure. The life span of a tinsel extension is similar to your natural hair strands. “Some of them will fall out the first week and some will last up to six months or more.” Just make sure to keep your tinsel away from the flat or curling iron if it’s not heat safe!
