I can’t remember when I first discovered the magnificence of Keke Palmer. Alongside Raven-Symoné, Tia and Tamera Mowry, and Kyla Pratt, Palmer was an essential part of my childhood as a young Black girl growing up in the 00s and 2010s. In a way I’ve practically grown up alongside Palmer, who is only three years older than me, so when she announced her pregnancy on December 3 while hosting Saturday Night Live, I couldn’t contain my excitement like many other longtime fans. The announcement felt as iconic as when Beyoncé announced her own pregnancy with Blue Ivy Carter at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards while performing “Love on Top.”

Among her many talents, Palmer is a comedian in every sense of the word and has kept me laughing consistently since I was a youngin’. So I really shouldn’t have been shocked when the comedian posted an Instagram video on January 5 claiming to have the “cure” to acne: pregnancy.

Yes, you read that right, and Palmer supplied the proof with the video, showcasing the smoother, clearer skin she’s been having during her own pregnancy. For context, she has often been vocal about her experience with acne, especially as a side effect of polycystic ovary syndrome, and struggling to find products that work.
