Apparently, if you’re a recent first-time Grammy winner and you’re invited to sit front row at Paris Fashion Week, you are required to steal the show with your beauty imaginativeness. First, Doechii blew our minds with her Acne Studios look, and now, Chappell Roan is cranking out the creativity in the City of Lights. We’re especially in awe of the look she wore to the Rick Owens runway show, with its rule-breaking makeup. But don’t get so distracted by her alien-esque visage that you don’t notice what might be the most fascinating element of her ensemble: a manicure that looks a lot like nipple piercings.
Now, we’re not saying Roan’s nails look exactly like nipples—not at all. Though it’s entirely possible that some people do have nipples that are the same extremely pale pink shade of her sheer, slightly pearlescent nail polish. It’s just that, on each nail, there are two silver balls that have been placed to suggest a bar connecting them, just like a nipple piercing. Hell, they’re even about the width of a nipple piercing.
Also, shout out to Roan’s left thumbnail, which is currently swathed in a Band-Aid. Hopefully that’s not the result of an actual nail-piercing attempt, but that would make the look even more punk, to be honest.
