Morphing into Pamela Anderson wasn’t transformation enough for Lily James, who hasn’t finished switching up her look just yet. After filming Pam & Tommy — the series which saw her train intensely for months and wear prosthetics to play Baywatch star Anderson — the actor quickly segued back to her original mocha brunette shade. After that, she went even darker, even sporting a micro-fringe in raven-hued hair for a Versace campaign that dropped in early July.
But ever the chameleon, James — whose natural hair color is light brown — has returned to the sunny side, with a brand-new shade of blonde. She turned to her colorist, John MacPherson, to do the honors and documented key parts of the process on her Instagram Stories.
James’s new hair color is bombshell-bright, buttery blonde, and glossy — the perfect shade to complement her complexion. Creating a lived-in and imperfect finish, MacPherson deployed a colorist’s trick and left some of the actor’s natural roots on show for added dimension. Dubbing the new look a “hair miracle,” James swished her bouncy blow-dry and curtain bangs in the car home from the salon after her appointment.
