Grand Theft Auto 6 is easily the most anticipated video game release of 2025. The open-world game is likely to push consoles hard, which is why some fans have been nervous about the game’s performance on Xbox Series S. But according to the boss of Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two Interactive, he’s not worried at all.

Since 2013’s release of Grand Theft Auto V, fans have been wondering when the next GTA game would arrive. The hype around GTA 6 has been building steadily for a decade and finally, in late 2023, Rockstar Games released a trailer for the upcoming open-world crime sim, and confirmed a 2025 release window. This was accompanied by the news that it was skipping older consoles, like the PS4, and would be a current-gen exclusive. But that means it will be arriving on Xbox Series S, which is much weaker than a PS5 Pro or Xbox Series X.

During a November 6 earnings call, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked if it will be difficult to get bigger games like GTA 6 running on weaker hardware options like the Series S.

“Look, we support the platforms where the consumers are for as long as they’re there, and we find a way to support platforms despite different levels of tech. Our labels are really good at that. I’m not really worried,” answered Zelnick.

Zelnick added that he never worries about how powerful consoles are or what hardware is available, as that is something he has “zero control” over. He also explained that he believes gamers will “show up” and buy games on any platform as long as you provide “great” games. The Take-Two boss further explained that he sees a lot of value in the PC platform, and believes it will continue to grow for Take-Two, though he didn’t confirm if a PC port of GTA 6 is in the cards.

“So the bottom line is we are selective about which platforms we support,” said Zelnick. “We make the tech work when we can make it work as long as the audience is big enough to make that worthwhile.”

According to Take-Two’s latest financial report for investors, GTA 6 will still arrive in Fall 2025, as the company previously confirmed in May. The game will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X, and yes, the Xbox Series S.
