Surprisingly, the number one no-demo reno project was adding a window box to the home. According to Zillow, this simple feature resulted in 52% more shares and 48% more daily saves than home listings without this feature.

Zillow estimates the national average material cost to add a flower window box to your home ranges from $15 to $900, depending on size, material choice, and number of window boxes. Professional installation costs average $100 to $150.

Other Inexpensive No Demo Reno Projects that Boost Zillow Listings

Window boxes weren’t the only inexpensive features that earned homes more shares and saves. Here are nine other top-ranking home projects that boost selling appeal.

Open Shelving

Open shelving resulted in 45% more shares and 37% more saves on Zillow. Installing open shelves in your home is easy. Just make sure to keep them neat, especially during house showings.

Painted Brick Houses

Painted brick homes are on trend right now (although we urge you not to paint your nice-looking brick!). Compared to other homes, painted brick earned an average of 39% more shares and 31% more saves.

Vintage Features

If you have cool vintage features in your home, keep them. According to Zillow, vintage touches can make your home stand out and earn you 28% more saves and 31% more shares.

Outdoor TVs

Outdoor TVs are easy to install and cost $200 to $300, but work as a selling point when you’re ready to put your home on the market. Houses with outdoor TVs earned 26% more shares and 28% more saves.

White Picket Fences

White picket fences are still part of the American dream. These handy yard barriers earn sellers 27% more saves and 31% more shares per day on Zillow.

Pergola

Pergolas offer shade while spending time outdoors and are popular among home buyers. Those with pergolas installed had 20% more saves and 24% more shares than homes without.

Firepit

Fire Pits can make your backyard look beautiful and act as a gathering space. These easy backyard projects can also gain you 19% more saves and 23% more shares on Zillow compared to homes that don’t have fire pits.

Outdoor Sound System

Outdoor sound systems are among the less common items on the list but are still a selling point for potential buyers. They cost from $500 to $2,000 but earn 18-19% more saves and shares.

Smart Lighting

Smart features are still gaining popularity. Although some upgrades, like lighting, are relatively inexpensive, they can increase saves and shares on Zillow by 18-23%.
