After our hands-on experience with the Tecno Camon 30 Premier 5G, we turned our attention to its two siblings – the Camon 30 and Camon 30 5G. The Premier is definitely the premium model, but these two are not that different. They share a design language and some of the features too.

Tecno Camon 30 5G

The Tecno Camon 30 5G is powered by the Dimensity 7020 chipset. This is a 6nm part based on the Dimensity 930 with two Cortex-A78 cores at 2.2GHz and six A55 cores at 2.0GHz. It has a PowerVR IMG B-series GPU and a 5G modem (sub-6GHz).

While not as powerful as the Dimensity 8200 Ultra inside the Premier, this does at least offer next-gen connectivity.

The front of the phone holds the sizable 6.78” AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and 1,080 x 2,436px resolution (not an LTPO panel, however). Punch holed into it is the 50MP selfie camera with autofocus and even a dual color temperature flash..

Flipping around the back, we see the same chamfered area near the circular camera island – this is a design feature that unifies the Camon 30 family. And it’s nice for ergonomics too, when you hold the phone horizontally it is a natural place to put your finger.

The main camera on the back also has a 50MP 1/1.57″ sensor. This module also enjoys OIS, which helps with night time portraits. However, there’s no ultra wide on board and certainly no tele lens.

The Tecno Camon 30 is a 4G model, powered by the Helio G99 chipset. Tecno paired it with 12GB of RAM (and 12GB virtual), though this isn’t a high performance device. The 6nm chipset has two Cortex-A76 cores (2.2GHz) and six A55 cores (2.0GHz), plus a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU and a 4G modem.

The Tecno Camon 30 has the same design as its two siblings and you have the option of a vegan leather back (the other choice is a glass back). Either way, these are good-looking phones.

The camera setup is like on the 5G with a 50MP main on the back (with OIS) and a 50MP selfie on the front (with AF and flash). The display is the same 6.78” 120Hz AMOLED panel with the same FHD+ resolution.

Both the Camon 30 5G and 4G models are powered by the same 5,000mAh battery with 70W charging as the Pro. They also have the same stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos (with grilles on top and bottom) and an IR blaster on top.

This is just a preview of the upcoming Tecno Camon 30 series – the Premier is scheduled to launch in Q2 (April-June) and its siblings should hit the market around the same time too.
