The classic bun serves as an updo that’s appropriate for all occasions, compliments each and every face frame, and will always be considered a throw-it-up-and-go, apparently effortless hairstyle. Jennifer Lopez, for one, has always turned to the sleek updo, whether for a day in the rehearsal studio or for a pearled-out photo shoot. And of course she adds her J.Lo twist to the hairstyle — sometimes, quite literally.

On July 10, Lopez debut a slicked-back ballerina bun with an added French braid twist. Two front middle-parted strands were sectioned off and braided down to the tips, while the rest of her hair made up the bun. It came courtesy of J.Lo’s longtime hairstylist Chris Appleton, who featured it on his Instagram page as well. He captioned his carousel of J.Lo-infused selfies with the words “Weekend Snatch.”

While we happily await Appleton’s step-by-step recreation of the singer’s latest hairstyle, we can confidently guess that a hefty amount of hairspray was involved. At about the height of her temples, he swiftly combed her hair back just enough, giving her cheekbones that snatched contour look adding an edge to this sleek updo.
