Fossil announced a Wellness Edition of its Gen 6 smartwatch last Friday with Wear OS 3 out of the box. Today all the other Fossil Gen 6 devices are receiving an update.

The new package comes with upgraded health and fitness tracking, an improved interface and there is finally a link between the Fossil wearable and the Fossil app.

Today’s update arrival comes right in time, delivering on Fossil’s promise that Gen 6 watches will switch to Wear OS 3. The screen of the wearable now comes with better readability, thanks to elements from Google’s Material You design.

Pressing the top button opens a list of all recent apps, while press-and-hold starts the voice assistant. The Quick Settings Shade is also improved with more options and a new look, as well as a toggle between battery modes – Daily or Extended.

The Fossil app was already a thing but for some reason the company allowed Gen 6 devices to link only with the Wear OS app so far. Now that this has changed, all customizations can be made in the native application, and support for the Google app is not changed – the user has the choice to pick which app should be the default one.
